Bath re-enamelling for Ryhope homes

Common questions in Ryhope

Will there be fumes?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

What areas do you cover?

The entire UK, including all of County Durham. Just include your postcode and we’ll confirm dates.

Do you work in Ryhope?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Ryhope and the rest of County Durham. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Can pets and children be at home?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Ryhope

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. Whether it’s a bath in a colour that no longer suits and lots of chips and rust spots, we can help.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Never use suction bath mats

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further.

Landlord and trade work in Ryhope

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we will handle the rest.

For anyone letting property in or around Ryhope, we will quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

What we do, step by step

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a full day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Advice

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is usually much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s much quicker too. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why us?

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • One price list for the entire UK
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

Take a look at our prices page and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Honest limits

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

When to call us in Ryhope

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, peeling around the waste or bubbling. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

Look out for these signs:

  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A coating lifting around the plughole

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • What prep work is covered

10 questions to ask before booking

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • The material and finish
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Ryhope. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Where you are, by postcode

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
