How we handle bath re-enamelling in Shenton

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. If you’re dealing with staining under the taps and around the waste and lots of chips and rust spots, we can help.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. There is no area surcharge for Shenton. The price reflects:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How much damage there is

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Getting a price from photos

Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. It helps if you send:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Email us photos of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Shenton, and we will reply with a fixed price.

When we’d advise against a repair

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we work on in Shenton

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Shenton

Hard water speeds up the wear, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Stains that won’t shift
  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • Thin, worn enamel in places

How to compare quotes

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the entire surface with the bath left where it is. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why book with us

What happens on the day

Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes most of the day, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Related advice

Shenton: your questions answered

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the whole UK, including Shenton and the rest of Leicestershire. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Leicestershire.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Most baths are done in a day, ready the day after. We give you timings with the quote.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Will the new finish last?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Respect the curing time we give you

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Work for landlords and builders

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.
