Bath re-enamelling in Shide, done in place
Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. If you’re dealing with an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and a bath in a colour that no longer suits, we can help, whatever the material.
All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Shide and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Shide questions
Can you quote from photos?
Usually, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.
Can you change the colour of my bath?
Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.
Will you leave a mess?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.
Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?
Yes. Inside and out.
Do you do work for letting agents?
Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Shide.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.
Is a repair better than a new one?
In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.
Do you work in Shide?
Yes. We work across the UK and come to Shide. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
What bath re-enamelling costs
Prices start from £350. Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:
- The type of damage
- The material
- How many areas need work
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Send photos for a quote
The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- A wider photo showing the entire bath
The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures using our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.
What we are called out for in Shide
Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.
Look out for these signs:
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
- A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
- Worn patches where water runs and sits
- Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
Before booking anyone
- How soon you can use it again
- Who will actually do the work
- Aftercare advice
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers
Repair or replace in Shide?
If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is normally much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.
Why Shide clients choose us
- Same prices wherever you are
- Straight answers about what a repair can do
- Nothing taken out or refitted
- Colour mixed on the day to match
See our prices page or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.
Aftercare tips
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Avoid suction-cup mats
- Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, especially in hard water areas, to stop limescale building up.
On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
The process
On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to a full day.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the next day.
How to prepare
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Make sure the area is dry
- Let us know about parking or access

Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
When a repair isn’t the answer
It helps to know what we cannot do:
- Holes rusted through the metal
- Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
- A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.
Surfaces we repair
- Victorian roll-tops
- Acrylic baths
- Cast iron baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Pressed steel baths
