Bath re-enamelling in Shillington

Bath re-enamelling in Shillington, done in place

We don’t move the bath, so the taps, tiles and plumbing are not touched. It usually takes one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. Typical jobs include a bath in a colour that no longer suits and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean, across cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

What affects the price in Shillington

Prices start from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Send photos for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Most customers in Shillington get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

How it works

We agree an arrival time beforehand. On site, it takes the best part of a day in most cases. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

How to get a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Related advice

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Shillington

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

What happens after I send photos?

You’ll get a fixed quote back. You are under no obligation.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is generally much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Prices start from £350. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Aftercare tips

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Have chips seen to early
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Shillington?

Enamel wears gradually. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths dull the surface, normally first under the taps and around the waste.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • A coloured bath you want in white

What your quote should include

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Who turns up on the day
  • Aftercare advice
  • What preparation is included

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A bath split right through the body
  • Steel that has corroded right through
