Bath re-enamelling in Southery, done in place
Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without taking anything out. It’s the answer when the entire bath is tired rather than one spot. We’re frequently asked to fix an old resurfacing that’s failing and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring, across cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops.
You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Southery as everywhere else we work.

Aftercare tips
To keep it looking its best for years:
- Keep suction mats out of the bath
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
- Do not leave a chip unrepaired
- Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.
The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
Repairing versus replacing in Southery
Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Resurfacing takes one technician and generally a day, and the bath is usable the day after. Prices start from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Southery. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
Why Southery clients choose us

The process
You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It normally takes most of the day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
- Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
- We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
- We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
- Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.
How to prepare
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Advice
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Southery
Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, and only the surface is worn. The body of the bath is usually perfectly sound.
Look out for these signs:
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
- Wear marks under the taps
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
- An original cast iron bath that needs restoring

Common questions in Southery
Do you cover the entire of Norfolk?
We cover the entire UK, including Southery and the rest of Norfolk. Send your postcode with your photos and we will confirm dates.
Does the bath have to be removed?
Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.
Do I need to be at home?
Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.
Do you charge for travel?
Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.
Can you price it without visiting?
Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.
How long will the bath be out of use?
Normally one day, with the bath ready the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.
Do you do work for letting agents?
We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £350. You’ll know the full cost before you book. We take into account:
- Whether we combine several jobs
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- What the surface is made of
Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
Send pictures for a quote
When you take your photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:
- Something in shot to show the size
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- One picture of the entire bath
- Details of any past repairs
You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
Work for landlords and builders
We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Norfolk and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

What a repair cannot fix
In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- Steel that has corroded right through
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.
