Bath re-enamelling in Southrope without replacing anything

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. We’re often asked to fix a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and an old resurfacing that’s failing, on acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

What a repair can’t fix

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A bath that is rusted through
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths

How the visit works

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. It normally takes a full day.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

How to get a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

10 questions to ask before you book

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the entire room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing typically wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to look after the repair

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.
