Bath re-enamelling in St Erme without replacing anything

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. We regularly repair cast iron baths, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths, and the jobs we see most are wear marks under the taps and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

St Erme questions

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your TR4 postcode.

Do you work in St Erme?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to St Erme. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

What happens next?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

Does re-enamelling smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

When we would advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. There’s no charge for travel to St Erme. The price depends on:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How much damage there is
  • The material

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your pictures

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can price the job.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You will see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. It generally takes most of the day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

How to get a price

Advice

When to call us in St Erme

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, with nothing wrong except the surface. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is usually as strong as ever.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Lots of chips and rust spots

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
