Trusted bath re-enamelling in Stenhouse

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The colour and finish to match

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Stenhouse. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Bath re-enamelling in Stenhouse, done in place

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. Common call-outs are for several chips and rust patches and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it, across pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, so limescale cannot build up.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Should you replace it?

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the whole room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Prices start from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Common questions in Stenhouse

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.

Will there be fumes?

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

Do I have to be there?

Our hiring checklist

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It normally takes the best part of a day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
