Bath re-enamelling in Studland without replacing anything
We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Whether it’s thin, worn enamel in places and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring, we can help, whatever the material.
You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Studland as everywhere else we work.

When a repair is not the answer
It helps to know what we can’t do:
- Steel that has corroded right through
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
- Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Repairing versus replacing in Studland
Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the entire room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing usually wins. Prices start from £350. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Studland: your questions answered
Do you come to Studland?
We do. Technicians travel to Studland from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.
What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?
If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.
What happens once I’ve sent pictures?
We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.
Can you fix a peeling bath coating?
In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send photos.
Will there be a smell?
Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.
What does bath re-enamelling cost?
Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.
How quickly can you book me in?
We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.
Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?
Yes, we frequently do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £350. You will know the full cost before you book. We look at:
- Unusual colours or finishes
- The type of damage
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- What the surface is made of
It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
How to get a fixed price
Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:
- Something in shot to show the size
- Natural light rather than flash
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A wider photo showing the entire bath
The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures through our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.
Common problems we fix in Studland
A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.
You may need us if you’ve spotted:
- A coloured bath you want in white
- Thin, worn enamel in places
- An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
- A coating lifting around the plughole
What to look for in a quote
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers
- Aftercare advice
- How soon you can use it again
- What preparation is included
What we do, step by step
Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes most of the day. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the next day.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Clear the area around the damage
- Keep a parking space free if you can
Getting a price
There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Different materials, different repairs
Cast iron
Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

How to care for the repair
A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
- Never use suction bath mats
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
