Bath re-enamelling near Swanage

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Swanage

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. Common call-outs are for a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and a bath in a colour that no longer suits, on cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Swanage

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Does the bath have to be removed?

Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

What happens next?

You’ll get a fixed quote back, plus dates. There is no obligation to book.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

What we can’t put right

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Swanage, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we will price them together.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

What happens on the day

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a full day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s generally ready the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Getting a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Advice

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The type of damage
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How hard the colour is to match

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Swanage. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Send photos for a quote

  • The material, if you know it
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
