Trusted bath re-enamelling in Sunk Island

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Bath re-enamelling in Sunk Island, done in place

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Our technicians work on Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths, and common reasons people contact us are a roll-top that’s seen better days and staining under the taps and around the waste.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before booking.

What affects the price in Sunk Island

Prices start from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Sunk Island. What changes the price is:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The type of damage

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

Quotes from your pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • What it’s made of, if you know

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

What a repair can’t fix

A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip.

How it works

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we will take it from there. The job generally runs to most of the day, tidy-up included.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s generally ready the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Advice

How to care for the repair

To keep it looking its best:

  • Have chips seen to early
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

Sunk Island questions

Are you accredited?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

Look after it and it lasts. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

What information do you need?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Are there extra charges for Sunk Island?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Sunk Island?

Prices start from £350. We give a fixed price based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your HU12 postcode.

Which areas do you work in?

Everywhere in the UK, Sunk Island included. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Repair or replace in Sunk Island?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s much quicker too. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.
