Bath re-enamelling at your home in Patrington

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. We work on basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and pressed steel baths, and common reasons people contact us are several chips and rust patches and stains that won’t shift.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

When we would advise against a repair

We won’t take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Patrington

Hard water speeds up the wear, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • Stains that will not shift

Before you book anyone

  • When it can be used again
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What protection goes down before work starts

Our hiring checklist

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Aftercare tips

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish

The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

How the visit works

We begin by going over the job with you. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. It normally takes most of the day, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Repair or replace: which is better?

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the entire room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Questions from Patrington

How do I book?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Is there a smell?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes, frequently. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send photos.

What happens after I send photos?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.
