About our bath re-enamelling in Swalwell
Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. We are often asked to fix a roll-top that’s seen better days and stains that won’t shift, across pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

What bath re-enamelling costs
Resurfacing from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Swalwell. The price comes down to:
- The size and number of damaged areas
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- The colour and finish to match
- The material
Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.
Send photos for a quote
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- Where you are, by postcode
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can price the job the same day in most cases.
Swalwell questions
How long will the bath be out of use?
Usually a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.
Is my repair covered?
Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.
What information do you need?
Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.
How long does re-enamelling last?
That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year.
Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?
Typically, yes. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.
What areas do you cover?
Across the UK. Our prices are the same everywhere.
Are there extra charges for Swalwell?
We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.
Can pets and children be at home?
Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Prices start from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking.

Repairs by material
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Aftercare tips
So the finish stays in good condition:
- Repair dripping taps early
- Have chips seen to early
- Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.
Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.
How the visit works
We turn up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes most of the day, and the room is left clean and tidy.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
- The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Open a window if you can
- Let the surface dry out before the visit

Should I try a DIY kit first?
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.
Do you need bath re-enamelling in Swalwell?
Many baths we resurface have simply been well used. The body of the bath is usually perfectly sound.
Send us a photo if you notice any of these:
- Thin, worn enamel in places
- An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
- Stains that won’t shift
Questions to ask before you book
- What aftercare is recommended
- How the room is protected while they work
- Who turns up on the day
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers
What a repair can’t fix
Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:
- Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
- A bath split right through the body
- Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.
