Bath re-enamelling for Swarby homes

About our bath re-enamelling in Swarby

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Our repair technicians work on cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths, and the jobs we see most are an outdated colour you’d like to change and several chips and rust patches.

You’re covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before booking.

The process

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job typically takes the best part of a day. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the next day.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:

  • The material and finish
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Unusual colours or finishes

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Quotes from your photos

You can normally get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Any details about the material
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A picture taken from further back

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

For landlords and businesses

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Swarby use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Should you replace it?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, and the bath can be used the day after. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You will see the full price before booking.

Why us?

  • Colour-matched on site
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

When a repair isn’t the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.
