After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. Our repair technicians work on cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and pressed steel baths, and people most often call us about a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Tawstock

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

How long is the bath unusable?

One day for most baths, ready the next day. We give you timings with the quote.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

When to call us in Tawstock

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

People generally call us when they notice one of these:

  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off

What to look for in a quote

  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • How soon you can use it again

What we can’t put right

A repair is not always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Why repair rather than replace?

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the whole room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing typically wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why us?

  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • A fixed quote before you book
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • Usually one visit, start to finish

The process

There is not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take the best part of a day, tidy-up included.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Make sure the area is dry

How to get a price

Email us pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, and tell us you’re in Tawstock, and we will reply with a fixed price.

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

For landlords and businesses

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Tawstock as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.
