What we’re called out for in Taxal
Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.
The most common problems we’re called about are:
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
- A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
- A coloured bath you want in white
- Several chips and rust patches
Questions to ask before booking
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
- How soon you can use it again
- Who will actually do the work
- How your room will be protected
About our bath re-enamelling in Taxal
After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. We are frequently asked to fix enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and lots of chips and rust spots, in cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops.
Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Derbyshire.

Taxal: your questions answered
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send pictures.
Can you resurface a pink bath in white?
Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.
Can a failed resurfacing be redone?
Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.
What information do you need?
Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.
Do you need to take the bath out?
Not at all. We work on the bath in place, with the room masked and ventilated.
What affects the price in Taxal
Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job, from your photos. What matters most is:
- How many areas need work
- The material and finish
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- Unusual colours or finishes
Set against the cost of replacement, repairing typically costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
Getting a price from pictures
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:
- Details of any past repairs
- Where you are, by postcode
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- Any details about the material
Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can price the job.
What a repair cannot fix
A repair is not right for every job, including:
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
- A bath that’s rusted through
- A bath split right through the body
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.
What we work on
- Victorian roll-tops

Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
Aftercare tips
A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
- Get any chip repaired quickly
Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Fix dripping taps quickly.
Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
For landlords and businesses
Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Taxal use us as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Resurfacing takes one technician and normally a day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You will see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.
Why Taxal customers choose us
- Fixed prices from your pictures
- Typically one visit, start to finish
- Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
- We leave the room as we found it

What happens on the day
Your technician turns up when we said we would, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take the best part of a day, and the room is left clean and tidy.
- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
- The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
- We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
- We leave it to cure, and it’s normally ready the next day.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Clear the area around the damage
