About our bath re-enamelling in The Lings
Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It’s the answer when the entire bath is tired rather than one spot. Typical jobs include several chips and rust patches and an outdated colour you’d like to change, in basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops.
You get a one-year guarantee, the same in The Lings as everywhere else we work.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.
Do you need bath re-enamelling in The Lings?
Previous coatings can fail too, peeling around the waste or bubbling. We strip what’s failing and start again.
Look out for these signs:
- A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
- Wear marks under the taps
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating

Repairing versus replacing in The Lings
Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.
Why book with us
- Most jobs done in one visit
- Nothing taken out or refitted
- We leave the room as we found it
- Colour mixed on the day to match
Take a look at our full price list and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £350. There is no area surcharge for The Lings. What changes the price is:
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- The size and number of damaged areas
- The material and finish
- Doing more than one item at once
There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
Getting a price from photos
We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:
- Natural light rather than flash
- Something in shot to show the size
- Where you are, by postcode
- Details of any past repairs
For a price in The Lings, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
The process
The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the work takes the best part of a day. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.
- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
- Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
- The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
- We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
- We leave it to cure, and it’s normally ready the following day.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
Get a quote
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Work for landlords and builders
Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in The Lings use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.
Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.
The Lings: your questions answered
Is a repair better than a new one?
Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Can you quote from pictures?
In nearly every case. If pictures don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.
Do you hold any accreditations?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
Can you resurface a pink bath in white?
Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.
Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?
Yes. We can do the inside and outside.
What we can’t put right
We will not take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
- Holes rusted through the metal
Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.
Materials we repair
- Victorian roll-tops
- Basins & shower trays
- Acrylic baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Cast iron baths
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.
