Bath re-enamelling in The Pry

Bath re-enamelling at your home in The Pry

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without taking anything out. It’s the answer when the entire bath is tired rather than one spot. Whether it’s an outdated colour you’d like to change and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough, we can help, whatever the material.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Questions from The Pry

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in The Pry?

Prices start from £350. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You will get a fixed figure before booking.

Do you cover the whole of Swindon?

All of Swindon, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

Do you charge for travel?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Usually a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

How the visit works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes the best part of a day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Advice

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. You will know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How much damage there is
  • How many items we do on one visit

A repair typically costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your photos

Two or three clear photos are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A photo taken from further back

Email us a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your SN5 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Should you replace it?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing normally wins. Prices start from £350. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • One visit for most repairs
  • A fixed quote before you book
  • No extra charge for your area

Common problems we fix in The Pry

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, and only the surface is worn. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is generally as strong as ever.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Wear marks under the taps

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • Aftercare advice

How to care for the repair

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Repair dripping taps early

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.

Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in The Pry use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
