How we handle bath re-enamelling in Three Holes
When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, resurfacing is normally the best value. There’s no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. We regularly repair acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays, and the jobs we see most are stains that won’t shift and worn patches where water runs and sits.
Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee.

When we would advise against a repair
A repair is not right for every job, including:
- A bath split right through the body
- Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
- Steel that has corroded right through
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.
What we work on
- Basins & shower trays
- Victorian roll-tops
- Acrylic baths
- Cast iron baths
- Pressed steel baths
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.
How it works
You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It usually takes the best part of a day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.
Before we arrive
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
- Ensure the room can be ventilated

Should you replace it?
If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is generally much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s much quicker too. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Why book with us
- Colour mixed on the day to match
- Work done at your home or business

Common questions in Three Holes
How long is the bath unusable?
Usually a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.
Can pets and children be at home?
On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.
Will you leave a mess?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.
Is the work guaranteed?
Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.
Is there a smell?
There is some smell while the coating is applied, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
In most cases. The old repair comes out first.
Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?
Yes. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.
Do you do work for letting agents?
Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

What affects the price in Three Holes
Prices start from £350. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. These are the things that affect it:
- What the surface is made of
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- The size and number of damaged areas
- What kind of damage it is
The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.
Send photos for a quote
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:
- Details of any past repairs
- A wider photo showing the whole bath
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can price the job without visiting.
Looking after it afterwards
So the finish stays in good condition:
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
- Respect the curing time we give you
Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
