Our bath repair service in PE14
A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the day after. You will not need a plumber or tiler, because nothing is disconnected. We are frequently asked to fix a kit repair that didn’t last and a chip where the taps sit, on whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and cast iron enamel.
On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to a morning or an afternoon.
- First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
What you will pay
Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for PE14. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
Why choose Surface Doctor
- Nothing taken out or refitted
- A fixed quote before you book
- Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
- Honest advice, even when it means no job
How to get a price
Most customers in PE14 get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
Local landmarks in Upwell
Around Upwell, we work in homes near Upwell Academy, White Lion Public House and Church of St Peter and the streets around them. A little further out are North Cambridgeshire Hospital (5.1 miles north-west).
Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
Work for landlords and builders
For anyone letting property in or around PE14, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we will price them together.
For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip.
Should you replace it?
A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, a new panel is frequently needed, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. A repair skips all of it.
What your quote should include
- How to look after the finish
- How the colour is matched
- When it can be used again
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers
How to look after the repair
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
- Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
- Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath without abrasive products.
A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.
How the damage happens
Acrylic baths that crack nearly always have a support problem. Loose legs, no proper cradle or a floor that gives let the base flex until the acrylic gives way.
If you can see any of these, send us a photo:
- A hole punched through by something heavy
- A chip where the taps sit
- Snagging damage from a refit
- Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
Questions from PE14
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
Is a bath repair durable?
It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.
Is there any odour?
There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders.
What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?
It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.
