Bath re-enamelling at your home in Tillington

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. We regularly repair cast iron baths, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops, and people most frequently call us about lots of chips and rust spots and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Tillington as everywhere else we work.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. There is no area surcharge for Tillington. The price reflects:

  • Access to the area
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material and finish
  • The colour and finish to match

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing typically costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed quote

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The material, if you know it
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Why repair rather than replace?

A replacement frequently means several trades over several days. Resurfacing takes one technician and usually a day, and the bath is usable the day after. Prices start from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

What we do, step by step

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes the best part of a day. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Ask for a price

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface

Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

When a repair isn’t the answer

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Questions from Tillington

Does re-enamelling smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

Is there any odour?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. If pictures do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.
