Bath re-enamelling in Toftwood

The process

Your technician turns up when we said we would, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take the best part of a day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Toftwood

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we do not cut corners on it. Common call-outs are for an old resurfacing that’s failing and stains that won’t shift, on cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Toftwood?

Older baths frequently have several problems at once: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Re-enamelling deals with all of them in one go.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Stains that won’t shift
  • Thin, worn enamel in places

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • When it can be used again
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • How changes to the job are handled

How to compare quotes

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • The material
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • What kind of damage it is

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a fixed quote

You can generally get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Most customers in Toftwood get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Questions from Toftwood

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Do you work in Toftwood?

We do. Technicians travel to Toftwood from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Can you quote from photos?

Nearly always. If photos don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

How long is the bath unusable?

Generally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Do the materials smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Repair or replace in Toftwood?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the whole room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Prices start from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Why Toftwood customers choose us

  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Generally one visit, start to finish

Read our prices page and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

How to care for the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading and make the job bigger. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Toftwood

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
