How we handle bath re-enamelling in Towerhead
A re-enamelled bath looks and feels like a new one, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. Typical jobs include enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and stains that won’t shift, in acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops.
Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in Towerhead and across North Somerset.

How it works
The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes most of the day. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Advice
When to call us in Towerhead
Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, peeling around the waste or bubbling. We strip what’s failing and start again.
Get in touch if you’ve noticed any of these:
- Wear marks under the taps
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
- A roll-top that’s seen better days
- Lots of chips and rust spots

Looking after it afterwards
Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:
- A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
- Repair dripping taps early
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.
On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Work for landlords and builders
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll handle the rest.
We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.
When a repair isn’t the answer
We will not take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:
- A metal bath with a through crack
- Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
- Steel that has corroded right through
If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.
What we work on
- Victorian roll-tops
- Acrylic baths

Towerhead: your questions answered
Is the work guaranteed?
All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.
Do you do work for letting agents?
Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
How long is the bath unusable?
Usually a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.
Is there any odour?
Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It clears as the materials cure.
Can pets and children be at home?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.
What do you need from me?
Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.
How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Towerhead?
Resurfacing from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.
Should you replace it?
Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the entire room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Prices start from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

DIY kit or professional repair?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
