About our bath re-enamelling in Tregidden

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. If you’re dealing with a roll-top that’s seen better days and stains that won’t shift, we can help, whatever the material.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes most of the day. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

Advice

Repairs by material

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. There’s no charge for travel to Tregidden. The price comes down to:

  • The material and finish
  • How much damage there is
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What kind of damage it is

A repair usually costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Send photos for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The material, if you know it

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Tregidden

Older baths often have several problems at once: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

Contact us if you’ve noticed:

  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits

Questions to ask before you book

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • How your room will be protected
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

How to compare quotes

Tregidden questions

How long does re-enamelling last?

Care for it and it lasts. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. We resurface it in place, so nothing else is disturbed.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

Are there extra charges for Tregidden?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes, often. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Repair dripping taps early

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

Why repair rather than replace?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.
