When a repair is not the answer
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
- Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
- Holes rusted through the metal
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.
What we work on
- Acrylic baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Victorian roll-tops

Landlord and trade work in Twywell
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Northamptonshire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.
DIY kit or professional repair?
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
What happens on the day
You don’t need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a full day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
- The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.
How to prepare
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Open a window if you can

Advice
Aftercare tips
Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:
- A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
- Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
- Keep suction mats out of the bath
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.
Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

What your bath is made of matters
Pressed steel
Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Twywell
Hard water speeds up the wear, and gritty cleaners are the worst culprits.
People generally call us after spotting one of these:
- Wear marks under the taps
- Stains that will not shift
- Lots of chips and rust spots
- An old resurfacing that is failing

Should you replace it?
A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the entire surface without moving it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Why book with us
- Honest advice, even when it means no job
- CHAS and Constructionline accredited
- No need to remove anything

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Twywell
Does re-enamelling smell?
Yes, while we are applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
Are you a vetted contractor?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
Can tenants book a repair?
Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
Do the materials smell?
Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.
How long is the bath unusable?
Most baths are done in a day, ready the following day. We will confirm timings when we quote.
Will the price change on the day?
The price is fixed for what the photos show. If there is more, we will tell you before starting.
Can you resurface a pink bath in white?
Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.
