Bath re-enamelling at your home in Upper Beeding

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. Common call-outs are for lots of chips and rust spots and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off, in basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Before and after: an old basin refinished to bright white

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Should you replace it?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the whole room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing generally costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

What a repair can’t fix

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Upper Beeding

What do you need from me?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

What happens after I send pictures?

You will get a fixed quote back. You’re under no obligation.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

How long is the bath unusable?

Usually one day, with the bath ready the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. Inside and out.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

How it works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Allow a full day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to care for it.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Getting a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
