Bath re-enamelling for Upper Westholme homes

Bath re-enamelling in Upper Westholme without replacing anything

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, so we do not cut corners on it. We work on Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths, and common reasons people contact us are thin, worn enamel in places and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we will sort it.

Why repair rather than replace?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Prices start from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Upper Westholme. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why Upper Westholme clients choose us

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Most jobs done in one visit

What we cannot put right

A repair is not always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Stains that will not shift
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough

What your quote should include

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How to care for the finish
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • How the colour is matched

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take the best part of a day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

Aftercare tips

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Never use suction bath mats

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, so limescale can’t build up.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
