Bath re-enamelling in Victoria

Common problems we fix in Victoria

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

Bath re-enamelling in Victoria without replacing anything

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. We regularly repair pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths, and common reasons people get in touch are an outdated colour you’d like to change and chips and rust in more than one place.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Greater London.

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

Can I fix it myself?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Everything repaired in place

How to care for the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Victoria. The price depends on:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The colour and finish to match

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • Any details about the material
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Upload pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your SW1V postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

How it works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes the best part of a day. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Getting a price

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.
