How we price bath re-enamelling
Prices start from £350. There is no area surcharge for Water Oakley. The price reflects:
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- What the surface is made of
- Access to the area
- How much damage there is
A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.
Quotes from your photos
Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:
- The material, if you know it
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- A wider photo showing the whole bath
For a price in Water Oakley, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.
Bath re-enamelling in Water Oakley, done in place
We don’t move the bath, so the taps, tiles and plumbing are not touched. Most baths are done in one visit, and can be used again the next day. We regularly repair basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops, and the jobs we see most are thin, worn enamel in places and a roll-top that’s seen better days.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are covered after the visit.

For landlords and businesses
Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.
Can you price it without visiting?
In nearly every case. If pictures do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.
Are there extra charges for Water Oakley?
No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.
Will there be fumes?
A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

Looking after it afterwards
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
- Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
- Respect the curing time we give you
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
Dry the bath after use if possible, and rinse off any bath products.
Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.
How it works
There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will get on with it. Most visits take the best part of a day, including clearing up.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.
Before we arrive
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Ensure the area is dry
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

DIY repairs versus a professional job
A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
