Bath re-enamelling in Whimple without replacing anything

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. We work on acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths, and common reasons people get in touch are a peeling or bubbling previous coating and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee.

What we do, step by step

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which normally takes the best part of a day. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Whimple

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Will the price change on the day?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Does the bath have to be removed?

Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Whimple.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. You’ll know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • The material and finish
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send pictures for a quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.

What we can’t put right

A repair is not always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Repair or replace in Whimple?

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, normally one day. Prices start from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Whimple. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why book with us

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface

  • Everything repaired in place

How to care for the repair

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Never use suction bath mats

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

What we’re called out for in Whimple

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, peeling around the waste or bubbling. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

People generally call us when they notice something like this:

  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
