Bath re-enamelling in Whitchurch Hill, done in place

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. If you’re dealing with an old resurfacing that’s failing and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, we can usually put it right, on cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays alike.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee.

Common questions in Whitchurch Hill

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Normally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. Inside and out.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

How it works

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the work takes a full day. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Quotes from your pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

Most clients in Whitchurch Hill get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Why repair rather than replace?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
