Bath re-enamelling in Williamscot, done in place
Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It’s the answer when the entire bath is tired rather than one spot. We regularly repair pressed steel baths, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops, and the jobs we see most are chips and rust in more than one place and thin, worn enamel in places.
We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Repair or replace in Williamscot?
A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the whole surface with the bath left where it is. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

How the visit works
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for a full day from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to care for it.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.
Getting ready for the visit
- Make sure the room can be ventilated
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Advice
Keeping it looking good
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Fix dripping taps quickly
- Respect the curing time we give you
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
- Store bottles off the bath
Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.
If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
Honest limits
It helps to know what we can’t do too:
- A metal bath with a through crack
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
- A bath that is rusted through
If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.
Surfaces we repair

- Pressed steel baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Acrylic baths
- Victorian roll-tops
Can I fix it myself?
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
Questions from Williamscot
Will you leave a mess?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.
What do you need from me?
A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.
Do the materials smell?
There can be some smell while we work. It clears as the materials cure.
Do I need to be at home?
We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Usually, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.
Does the bath have to be removed?
Not at all. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.
Do you charge for travel?
There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.
