Trusted bath re-enamelling in Winyates

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Winyates

A re-enamelled bath looks and feels like a new one, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. We’re often asked to fix a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off, in Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. It generally takes a full day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • What the surface is made of
  • Access to the area
  • Whether we combine several jobs

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Quotes from your pictures

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Send us a picture of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your B98 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Different materials, different repairs

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Landlord and trade work in Winyates

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s much quicker too. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

What you get with us

  • Everything repaired in place
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • A fixed quote before booking

Read our prices page and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away

Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse off any bath products.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Questions from Winyates

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Normally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Which areas do you work in?

Across the UK, and that includes Winyates. Prices do not change with location.

What happens after I send photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.
