Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, because they can mark the finish. Fix dripping taps quickly.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Bath re-enamelling in Woodall without replacing anything

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. Our technicians work on Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths, and people most frequently call us about lots of chips and rust spots and a coating lifting around the plughole.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Woodall and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Common problems we fix in Woodall

By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Re-enamelling deals with all of them in one go.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough

Choosing a repair company

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. There is no area surcharge for Woodall. What changes the price is:

  • The material
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The colour and finish to match
  • What kind of damage it is

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear photos are normally enough. It helps if you send:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Woodall: your questions answered

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Do you work in Woodall?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Woodall. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can pets and children be at home?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

Care for it and it lasts. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Should you replace it?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is normally much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

What we do, step by step

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take the best part of a day. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Advice

Honest limits

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.
