When a repair is not the answer

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • A bath that is rusted through
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

Bath re-enamelling in Woodhall Spa, done in place

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, so we don’t cut corners on it. Whether it’s a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and staining under the taps and around the waste, we can generally put it right, whatever the material.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we will sort it.

How the visit works

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes the best part of a day. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Ask for a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

How to look after the repair

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and do not leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

What we are called out for in Woodhall Spa

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, with nothing wrong except the surface. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is typically as strong as ever.

Most people contact us after spotting something like this:

  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits

What to look for in a quote

  • What prep work is covered
  • Who will actually do the work
  • How your room will be protected
  • How the colour is matched

10 questions to ask before you book

Should you replace it?

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, usually one day, and the bath is usable the day after. Prices start from £350. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Work for landlords and builders

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Woodhall Spa as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.
