Bath repair in Aberaeron

How we handle bath repair in Aberaeron

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. A repair stops both. Typical jobs include damage beneath the taps and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, across whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Aberaeron and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Aberaeron questions

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Are you accredited?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

Do you cover the entire of Ceredigion?

The entire UK, including all of Ceredigion. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll confirm dates.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.

When can I have a bath again?

Usually within a day, though it depends on what we’ve done.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

How the visit works

The work is clean and fairly quiet. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a morning or an afternoon. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Getting a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Advice

Landlords, agents and businesses in Aberaeron

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

What a repair cannot fix

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

Signs you need bath repair in Aberaeron

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Chips on the rim or sides

What to look for in a quote

  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • What prep work is covered

10 questions to ask before booking

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water cannot get in. Take it off before we arrive.

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like is not cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?
