Bath repair in Aberfoyle

Bath repair in Aberfoyle, done in place

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the following day. Typical jobs include an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and rusty patches near the plughole, in cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and acrylic.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

Broken acrylic bath corner, rebuilt and refinished (before and after)

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Have new chips seen to early

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

Do you need bath repair in Aberfoyle?

Many chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, and the damage is not always spotted until later. We repair snagging damage like this regularly.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Chips caused by builders
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface

Choosing a repair company

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and disposing of the old one. Repairing it fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

When we’d advise against a repair

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material and finish
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Aberfoyle. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A picture taken from further back
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Something in shot to show the size

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

How the visit works

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Allow a morning or an afternoon. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Let us know about parking or access

Questions from Aberfoyle

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Do you cover Aberfoyle?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Aberfoyle. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

What happens after I send photos?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.
