Need bath repair in Aberlady?

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair is not always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

How we handle bath repair in Aberlady

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the next day. If you are dealing with rust spots around the plughole and chips on the rim or sides, we can help.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath without abrasive products.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and it can start to leak underneath.

Common questions in Aberlady

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Frequently, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a photo.

Are there extra charges for Aberlady?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Frequently, if there is access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

How soon can you come?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Do you need bath repair in Aberlady?

Rust generally starts where water sits, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Holes from dropped items
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • Rust spots around the plughole

Our hiring checklist

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Prices start from £95. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

The process

We agree an arrival time beforehand. Once we’re there, the work takes a few hours for most jobs. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Aberlady. The price reflects:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material
  • How much damage there is

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Getting a price from photos

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The material, if you know it
  • Where you are, by postcode

For a price in Aberlady, the easiest route is photos: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

Work for landlords and builders

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit.

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
