Bath repair for Acomb homes

Bath repair in Acomb, done in place

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. There’s no plumbing to disconnect, the tiles aren’t touched, and the repaired area is colour matched so it blends in. We work on roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel, and people most frequently call us about deep scratches in acrylic and rust by the waste and overflow.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What we cannot put right

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A steel bath rusted through

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

What we’re called out for in Acomb

Most bath damage comes from something dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • A chipped rim or side

What your quote should include

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Who turns up on the day
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

Choosing a repair company

How it works

Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes a morning or an afternoon, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can generally use the bath the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Advice

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Acomb questions

Can pets and children be at home?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Frequently, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a picture.

Will the repair show?

On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

What information do you need?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the whole bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

How do I get a price for bath repair in Acomb?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed quote from your pictures. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item and your postcode.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Access to the area
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed price

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what to send:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Details of any past repairs

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

Why repair rather than replace?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Our bath repair starts from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
