FAQs for Aike

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Often, if there’s access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Is a bath repair permanent?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair isn’t disturbed while it cures.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Do you come to Aike?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Aike. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

Do you charge for travel?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

How much does bath repair cost in Aike?

Repairs from £95. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

About our bath repair in Aike

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Whether it’s rust spots around the plughole and a chipped rim or side, we can typically put it right.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee.

Landlord and trade work in Aike

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

What we’re called out for in Aike

Many chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, and the damage isn’t always spotted until later. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Damage beneath the taps
  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • Rusty patches near the plughole

Our hiring checklist

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What a repair can’t fix

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Repair or replace in Aike?

Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why book with us

  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

Take a look at our full price list and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the work takes two to three hours for most chips. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Getting a price
