About our bath repair in Hornsea

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. Our repair technicians work on acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths, and common reasons people contact us are damage done while the bathroom was being fitted and cracks in an acrylic bath.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in Hornsea and across East Riding of Yorkshire.

What affects the price in Hornsea

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. These are the things that affect it:

  • The material
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Hornsea. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Email us a picture of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, and tell us you are in Hornsea, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel

What we do, step by step

Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Allow a morning or an afternoon from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

What we’re called out for in Hornsea

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting

Questions to ask before you book

  • How long it needs to cure
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • How to care for the finish

10 questions to ask before you book

Hornsea: your questions answered

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. If pictures do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

When can I have a bath again?

Typically the day after. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Which areas do you work in?

The entire UK, including all of East Riding of Yorkshire. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

How to look after the repair

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.
