Bath repair near Aldercar

What we cannot put right

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we work on in Aldercar

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel

Bath repair in Aldercar, done in place

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. If you are dealing with holes from dropped items and chips along the edge of the bath, we can help.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take a few hours, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

How to prepare

  • Open a window if you can
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

How to look after the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Rinse it down after each bath

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine.

Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Repair or replace in Aldercar?

Replacing a fitted bath normally means a plumber, removing the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and disposing of the old one. A repair deals only with the damage in a single visit. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Common problems we fix in Aldercar

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and building work is a common culprit. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: the bath isn’t properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • A chip where the taps sit

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Aldercar. The price depends on:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The type of damage

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Send photos for a quote

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.
