Bath repair in Alway, done in place

You do not need a new bath because of a chip. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, with the colour mixed on site. We regularly repair acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and pressed steel enamel, and the jobs we see most are a hole punched through by something heavy and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will come back.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Honest limits

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

How to look after the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

Questions from Alway

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire bath and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

How long before I can use the bath?

Normally by the following day, though it depends on what we’ve done.

Can you price it without visiting?

Normally, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Typically, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Will the repair show?

The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath, and we will tell you what to expect.

How the visit works

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes two to three hours for most chips, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Ask for a price

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

When to call us in Alway

Damage during fitting is very common. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, and the damage is not always spotted until later. We repair snagging damage like this regularly.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • Chips under the taps
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Impact holes in acrylic

Our hiring checklist

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We price every job individually, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • What the surface is made of
  • The type of damage
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book.

How to get a fixed price

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Our bath repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.
