Bath repair in An Luirg

Should you replace it?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. A repair skips all of it. Prices start from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

How we handle bath repair in An Luirg

A damaged bath does not have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, with the colour mixed on site. We regularly repair pressed steel enamel, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding, and people most frequently call us about damage done while the bathroom was being fitted and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will sort it.

FAQs for An Luirg

Is a bath repair durable?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Highland.

When can I have a bath again?

Generally within a day, depending on the repair.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. If pictures do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Mention it when you send pictures.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted

Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

When to call us in An Luirg

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On steel and cast iron baths, any chip down to the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • Damage beneath the taps

Questions to ask before you book

  • How your room will be protected
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • What prep work is covered
  • How soon you can use it again

Our hiring checklist

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • The type of damage
  • How much damage there is
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You will see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

How to get a fixed price

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The material, if you know it
  • Details of any past repairs

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. There’s no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the work takes a few hours. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, generally by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Related advice

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

What we can’t put right

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.
