How we handle bath repair in Antron

Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a repair that’s smooth, sound and hard to spot. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it’s level with the surrounding surface. If you’re dealing with damage beneath the taps and scuffs and scratches in the surface, we can help.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

The process

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. Once we’re there, the work takes a few hours, depending on the damage. We leave the room clean.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Open a window if you can
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

When a repair isn’t the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel

Landlord and trade work in Antron

For anyone letting property in or around Antron, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we will price them together.

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine without abrasive products.

A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Common problems we fix in Antron

Rust normally starts where water sits, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Holes from dropped items
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting

What to look for in a quote

  • Who turns up on the day
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • When it can be used again
  • What happens if they find more damage

Repair or replace: which is better?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Antron: your questions answered

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

Will I be able to see the repair?

We aim for a repair you cannot easily find. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath, and we will tell you what to expect.

What does bath repair cost?

Repairs from £95. We give a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your TR10 postcode.

Do you charge for travel?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

How long before I can use the bath?

Most baths can be used the next day. We confirm the time before we leave.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Normally, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.
