Bath repair near Appley Bridge

Bath repair in Appley Bridge, done in place

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, usually in a single visit. Whether it’s impact holes in acrylic and a chipped rim or side, we can usually put it right, on cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths alike.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back.

Questions from Appley Bridge

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

How long before I can use the bath?

Typically the next day. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Often, if there is access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Do you cover Appley Bridge?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Appley Bridge and the rest of Wigan. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

How do I get a price for bath repair in Appley Bridge?

Repairs from £95. We give a fixed quote from your pictures. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your WN6 postcode.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work. It clears as the materials cure.

Landlord and trade work in Appley Bridge

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Repair or replace in Appley Bridge?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it takes one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why us?

  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Most jobs done in one visit

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so it pays to deal with it early.

When we would advise against a repair

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

What we do, step by step

Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes a morning or an afternoon, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can normally use the bath the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Ask for a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • The type of damage
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any details about the material
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

Upload photos of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you are in Appley Bridge, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

Signs you need bath repair in Appley Bridge

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, closely followed by shower heads. Fittings cause damage too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.
