About our bath repair in Robin Hood

A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, mixing the colour on the day. We regularly repair whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and people most often call us about cracks in an acrylic bath and impact holes in acrylic.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Robin Hood

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Wigan and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

What we are called out for in Robin Hood

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, with dropped shower heads close behind. Fittings cause damage too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed:

  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Holes from dropped items
  • A cracked acrylic bath

What happens on the day

Your technician turns up when we said we would, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Advice

What affects the price in Robin Hood

Repairs from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Robin Hood. The price depends on:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The material and finish
  • How many items we do on one visit

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your photos

Two or three clear pictures are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Any details about the material
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Repairing versus replacing in Robin Hood

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, a new panel is often needed, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. A repair skips all of it. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Robin Hood. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Robin Hood

  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • One price list for the entire UK

Read our full price list or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

Robin Hood: your questions answered

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Are there extra charges for Robin Hood?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

How long before I can use the bath?

Normally by the following day, depending on the repair.

Will the repair show?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

What happens if you find more damage?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

In most cases. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

What information do you need?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole bath and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.
