How we handle bath repair in Auchinstarry

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. We are often asked to fix chips caused by builders and chips on the rim or sides, across whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and pressed steel enamel.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Auchinstarry. The price reflects:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Getting a price from photos

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what to send:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos through our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

How the visit works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. You can expect it to take a few hours, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Ask for a price

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Questions from Auchinstarry

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Do you come to Auchinstarry?

We do. We send a technician to Auchinstarry for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Is a bath repair durable?

Yes, if it’s prepared properly and the bath is sound. It carries our one-year guarantee.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Generally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

What we can’t put right

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Do you need bath repair in Auchinstarry?

Most bath damage comes from something dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

Customers generally contact us about:

  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface

What your quote should include

  • Who turns up on the day
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How to look after the finish
  • How soon you can use it again

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath.

Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like is not cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access.
