Bath repair in Axbridge

Common questions in Axbridge

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Axbridge.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

How do I get a price for bath repair in Axbridge?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed quote from your pictures. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item and your postcode.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Will the repair show?

The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Bath repair in Axbridge, done in place

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, generally in a single visit. Our repair technicians work on whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and people most frequently call us about holes from dropped items and rust spots around the plughole.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Axbridge and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Common problems we fix in Axbridge

Acrylic baths that crack nearly always have a support problem. Legs that are not adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the bath move until the acrylic gives way.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • Holes from dropped items

10 questions to ask before booking

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Axbridge. The price depends on:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What kind of damage it is

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Quotes from your photos

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Any details about the material
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Email us pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your BS26 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

What we can’t put right

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

Repair or replace in Axbridge?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Our bath repair starts from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing typically costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Why us?

  • One price list for the whole UK
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • Work done at your home or business

How the visit works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job normally takes a few hours. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

How to get a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
