About our bath repair in Ball Hill

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Typical jobs include rust spots around the plughole and chips under the taps, in acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: tiles along the rim usually crack when it comes out, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. A repair skips all of it. Prices start from £95. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

Why us?

  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Work done at your home or business
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • No need to remove anything

What we’re called out for in Ball Hill

Rust typically starts where water sits, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Chips under the taps
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • A hole punched through by something heavy

What your quote should include

  • What prep work is covered
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • Who turns up on the day
  • What aftercare is recommended

10 questions to ask before you book

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Ball Hill. The price depends on:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The type of damage
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

How to get a fixed quote

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

To get a price, send a couple of pictures through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

Honest limits

We will not take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

How it works

Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow two to three hours for most chips. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Ball Hill: your questions answered

Do you cover Ball Hill?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Ball Hill and the rest of West Berkshire. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

When can I have a bath again?

Normally by the following day, depending on the repair.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Are you accredited?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

How invisible is a bath repair?

The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath, and we’ll tell you what to expect.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.
